Santo Antão Norte | Taça Round 5

Round 5 of the taça regional concluded this past weekend. Solpontense had already qualified for the Semifinal but did not hold back as they cruised to a 2-0 win over Beira Mar. Despite their loss, Beira Mar also qualified. Foguetões had a spot in the Semis to play for and they managed to triumph over Torreense 1-0 due to an own goal from Davitson in the 76’. Despite this, Foguetões and Torreense were eliminated from the cup. Finally, Santo Crucifixo and Paulense were the other two teams to qualify and faced each other on the final day. After just three minutes, Dani put Santo Crucifixo ahead but Paulense would even it up on 43’ thanks to a goal from Jai. Unfortunately the tie would be decided due to an own goal from Baltasar in the 74’ to hand Santo Crucifixo the win. The cup is the second largest competition in the region, behind the league, and the Semifinals will be played on March 8th and 9th.
