Fogo
The Associação Regional de Futebol do Fogo (ARFF) is the association governing the regional football leagues and competitions on the island of Fogo. Originally founded in 1975, the ARFF is based out of São Filipe and games are played in the Estádio 5 de Julho.
Currently there are two divisions in the Fogo leagues with two teams being directly promoted/relegated. There is also a regional cup, Taça Fogo, a super cup between the winners of the regional league and cup competitions, SuperTaça, as well as the Taça Inter-campeões, a cup competition between the champions of the 1st and 2nd divisions that kicks off the season in November.
Botafogo, Académica do Fogo and Vulcânicos FC are the most decorated teams in regards to regional championships with these three winning 17, 15, and 13 times respectively. Only Botafogo has been able to carry that success to the national championship, winning it in the 1979/80 season with a 2-1 victory over CS Mindelense from São Vicente after extra time.
