Fogo 1° Division Week 12 Roundup

We start in the first division where Associação Académica do Fogo and Botafogo Futebol Clube are competing for top spot in the league. Current first place, Académica was defeated by fourth place Valência Futebol Clube. The game started with Valência on the front foot, scoring in the 18’, Flávio, and 44’, Djica. The scoreline was quite generous to Académica going into the break as Valência squandered two goal scoring opportunities. The team talk must have motivated Académica as they returned in the second half looking to turn the tides against a Valência side that opted to defend strongly and lock up the result. Despite the 18 minutes of added time, Académica could only claw back one goal through Badju in the the 68’.

This result didn’t changed the table but that didn’t last for long. In the afternoon game, Botafogo was able to do just enough to secure a 1-0 win over FC Nô Pintcha, thanks to a set piece goal from Tui in the 38’, and move to the top of the table.

Cutelinho FC beat bottom of the table Juventude FC 4-1. Juventude continues to search for their first point of the campaign and their goal differential dropped to -39 after 12 games.

Sunday saw the remaining games from the first division play out. Despite missing a penalty earlier in the game, Sota, from Vulcânico Clube do Fogo, scored the game winner over Luzabril FC. The result failed to change the table. In the final game of the weekend, Juventus de Curral Grande and União de São Lourenço played to a 1-1 draw keeping the two in 8th and 9th places, respectively.
